Nathan Evans is a Scottish singer, songwriter, and guitarist who went from postal worker to social media star in 2020 when his acapella versions of traditional sea shanties became a viral sensation, resulting in a major-label record deal. Born in Bellshill and based outside of Glasgow in the town of Airdrie, Evans started playing the guitar at the age of eight. After graduating from college with a degree in web design he joined the Royal Mail as a postal worker, and in his downtime began posting covers of Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Vance Joy, and Kodaline songs on his social media page. When a follower suggested that he try his hand at some traditional folk music, he uploaded a rendition of the sea shanty “Leve Her Johnny.” The song proved popular with his fans, so he added “The Scotsman” and the 19th century New Zealand shanty “Wellerman” to his repertoire. The latter track, which appeared in December 2020, quickly took on a life of its own, garnering millions of streams and spawning a slew of remixes and renditions by the likes of Brian May, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Elon Musk, and Jimmy Fallon, and sparking a renewed interest in the genre. In January 2021 Evans inked a three-album recording contract with Polydor, officially quit his mail job, and released “Wellerman” as a proper single.

DOSBRAK

Dosbrak is a young Irish artist, owner of an architecture degree, Dosbrak has long held an intense passion in art and has spent most of his life scribbling away in notebooks to hone his craft. In the last five or six years, the hobby developed into a profession – with Dosbrak crediting the support of the likes of Joe Rogan for helping to develop global interest in his work, which has led to numerous high-profile partnerships.
His work features many themes, but among the most recurring are the concept of champions and/or kings – with much of his work based around an ethos which states that a successful piece of art must tell a story in the same manner you might expect from a feature article, or even documentary. Much like some other creative manifestations, Dosbrak says that a successful piece will sometimes be determined not just by what is included in the image, but also by what is not – a stylistic choice which he compares to an open-ended conclusion to a movie. Sometimes that audience’s perception of a piece is just as, or even more, important than the artist’s.

LUAP

I used to be a polar bear

A skilled fine artist who dynamically fuses painting and photography, Paul Robinson aka LUAP, born in Grimsby in 1982, is fast gaining critical recognition and a celebrity following for his exciting work.
Working across various mediums his work hints at abstract expressionism infused with the explosive energy and bold colour of Pop and Urban Art. Exploring existential subjects within a contemporary feel his work stands alone in its composition and provoking content and subject matter.
“The complexity of Robinson’s imagery and overlaying of pattern has been informed by the work of Robert Rauschenberg. Robinson paints a world, which joins Christopher Wool’s fabric paintings with a 1970’s Peter Phillips pop landscape. These images are reminiscence of dream sequences from 1960’s films; a drug trip depicted in solarisation photography where the image recorded is wholly or partially reversed in tone.” Martin Maloney
His most iconic series depicts a pink teddy bear come-to-life and placed in the real world acting as a metaphor for discovery and exploration. The costumed figure – a striking motif in his work – exists between reality and make-believe, youthful innocence and corruption, leading a lifestyle that looks simultaneously enviable and questionable.

PIGCASSO

PIGCASSO

Pigcasso and Joanne Lefson represent the first human – non-human art collaboration of it’s kind.
Pigcasso was rescued just before slaughter in 2016 by Joanne Lefson and taken to Farm Sanctuary SA in Franschhoek, South Africa. When Joanne noticed that Pigcasso ate or destroyed everything except some old paint brushes that were laying in her stall, she decided to nurture the pig’s potential talent. It didn’t take long before Pigcasso began to paint – and over time, the painting process developed into an extraordinary collaboration between human and pig. Lefson selects the colours while Pigcasso takes the brush into her mouth and creates her magic across the canvas. Lefson watches from afar, able to stop Pigcasso if she observes an interesting form developing that is relatable to the human eye. Every original is signed by Pigcasso’s nose-tip, countersigned by Lefson and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. Proceeds from the sale of every artwork benefit the registered nonprofit Farm Sanctuary SA that Lefson established in 2016.
